b. 1941, Dayton, OH
Peter Plagens can be described as a true Renaissance man: a painter, art critic, and author. He has received fellowships from the John Simon Guggenheim Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the National Arts Journalism Program. His paintings were the subject of a retrospective first shown at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, then at the Columbia College of Art in Chicago and The Butler Institute of American Art in Youngstown, Ohio.
