Carrie Mae Weems (b. 1953) is a renowned American artist whose extensive body of work investigates cultural identity, sexism, class, political systems, and the consequences of power.

Weems is recognized for her approach to the expression of narratives about women, people of color and working-class communities. She is “conjuring lush art from the arid polemics of identity“ (The New York Times). Her complex body of work encompasses photography, text, fabric, audio, digital image, installation, performance, and video. Weems’ work asks us to look deeply at the two-dimensional image, to explore complex realities and revisit unexamined perspectives.

This signed and numbered edition highlights the organizationit to diversity and equality. Jefferson Memorial is an image that presents America's past and present political and social issues.

Weems' work resides in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Frist Center for Visual Art, Solomon Guggenheim Museum in New York, J. Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles, and Centro Andaluz de Arte Contemporáneo in Seville, Spain.

Note: A framed example from the edition is for reference purposes only. Each impression comes unframed.
